Hi everyone! I wanted to share what I think is truly a miracle. My Rhode Island Red, Daisy, went missing six days ago. We were all at work, and when everyone came home there were only the other two hens and three giant piles of feathers. We were devasted. We were convinced a fox had eaten her and she was gone for good. We quickly made a large addition to our coop and put the other two on lock down. I felt bad because they were so used to being out all day long, but it was just too risky to let them out.
Yesterday, a neighbor messaged my mom saying she saw Daisy walking across the street at 5 pm!! First thing this morning we formed a search party and found her missing a few feathers, but otherwise unscathed foraging a few houses down! We reintroduced her to her sisters and they couldn’t believe it either. She somehow managed to survive on her own for six days with a predator on the loose. I couldn’t be happier, so i decided to join BYC and share my story because when i was upset i couldn’t find any lost chicken stories with happy endings.
