A home of our own! *We're moved in!* New pics! (post # 148)

Congratulations!! There is nothing like the feeling of buying your first home!! It's a beautiful home at that! Good Luck on your move and getting settled!!

Thanks!

Well, we learned today that closing may not be until the first week of February now. The seller is having trouble getting all of the money together for closing.

But at this point, one more week certainly won't kill us!

WOW, congratulations! That looks like an absolutely stunning property.

I didn't realize how much cheaper land is elsewhere. Here in California, TEN acres with a house sells for $800,000+... my fiancee and I are having a hard time finding anything affordable that we could farm.

Thanks everyone!

ODS-n-ENS Farm, I'm glad I'm not alone in my weirdness! lol

It's amazing the difference in the cost of living from place to place. Of course, I live in a very rural area with very little in the way of industry or jobs, so the cost of living is less. The land around here is generally steeper and rockier (we're in an unglaciated area) and considered to be less productive, so it isn't worth as much as the flatter more productive areas of the state. I feel so very blessed to live in a place where I can afford to have enough acreage to have a (small) farm. This is below the normal cost for a place like this around here, though. We looked at places with only 10 acres that cost more than this, so we were very fortunate! I feel for you - I'm sorry it is so difficult to find anything affordable where you are. I hope you eventually find a place!

I had seen a few post where you were talking about the new place but just found this posting with the details. The place is wonderful and 42 acres for that price is a steal. Here land is running around 15 thousand an acre.

Congrats.

Thanks, Cackle!

We've been busy the last few days. The seller gave us permission to put a new lock on the garage and start moving some stuff. My hubby had the last two days off (he works a crazy swingshift schedule) and has been working hard. The seller said today that she will be back in the state by Friday and will meet us to give us the keys to the house!

It is sounding like we should be able to close by the beginning of next week if everything goes well.
