>~* A Howl At Midnight>~* A FORGOTTEN DOGS ROLEPLAY!

Calamitypu's single word brought Brindlepup out of the maze of her mind. She quickly scooted over closer to the younger pup and gave her ear a gentle lick. "You don't have to talk," she murmured comfortingly. Her smooth tone surprised her; every syllable, she felt as if her throat was going to collapse on itself.
Calamitypu leaned into her older friend, basking in what little comfort she could derive from the sodden fur. She's the last stability I know. Though obvious, and having been so since she'd come snout-to-snout with the reality that her mother was gone, the inner acceptance of this declaration came starkly, like the light of a lone star in the midst of tonight's unforeseen storm. "What are we going to do?" Her voice was hollow, empty of hope, but not that thickening, drowning emotion; and it was soon swallowed by the tempest around them. Then she abruptly, with something of a bitter jolt that she immediately hated, let herself recall that Brindlepup wasn't entirely alone.
She still had living parents. One who even miraculously still cared enough about her to remain here. "Sorry. I meant just me."

Brindlepup stared at Calamitypu in shock. How was she supposed to respond to something like that? She really couldn't empathize with her, especially now that Reed was Alpha... But what would her mother have said?

The more she thought, the more she knew. Shadow wouldn't have said anything.

But she had to say something. Something that would comfort her, instead of harden her heart towards Brindlepup even more.

She took a deep breath, collecting herself.
"Look kid, none of this is our fault," she began hesitantly. "Shadow.... I don't know if she betrayed us or what, but that's what it's looking like." Even saying the words made her choke with grief. "Mink was loyal. Carry that legacy."

As she said the words, she thought, You can carry your mother's... I have to build my own.

(Storm)
The very temperamental and non-conforming weather had recently decided to add some thunder into the lovely tumultuous snow hurricane mess. Ivypup looked at Cheese Grits with a mild disgust, then turned away as she began to drag her sodden body across the sodden camp. The wind had broken many large branches as though they were mere stalks of grass to be snapped from the earth, and picking one's way across the camp was appearing to be a very strenuous task indeed. "I'd take Rip's bloodstained fields over this any day," she muttered to no one in particular. Her lips peeled back in disgust when she set foot in something of a fault of quickmud near the belles' den and quickly recoiled. Let's just hope Eon doesn't decide impromptu spring cleaning is more important than sleep.
And Sirius forbide she makes us sit vigil for the fallen now or any of that carp.
(@Flufferes- does she? :D)

(Rip)
Calamitypu remained in the middle of the pretty much ruined camp, freakishly motionless as if she were locked in a dreamless sleep- yet her eyes were wide open and fixed on absolutely nothing.

Jasper sat outside of his den, head bowed in a reverence not to any one being or even abstract emotion in particular. Opal's soft snores filtered outside, yet he had no desire to be denning beside his mate at this current mental state.

Birch crept from her nest, and glanced back at Flame. With a pang of regret, the she-wolfs ginger fur reminded her of Squrrielflight."Is she and Hollyshadow ok? Shold I have been more fair with her? She's going to hate me, Thunder's dead, all she has left is Rashka and Hollyshadow."Shuddering, Birch stumbled out of her den, her head throbbing. She had to get to Ash. When she last saw her sister, she was being dragged into the Medicine Dog's den. Gulping in fear of what she might find, She limped across the clearing, and pushed her way into the den."–Ash?"She rasped, terror ripping through her pelt.

Scar looked around at Rip's ruined camp. Her eyes wandered, and then finally fell on two pups huddling in the rain; Calamitypu and Brindlepup. Those pup are going to get themselves soaked. She thought, watching the motionless figures.
