A Little Confused

Ok, I need a bit of clarification about crested ducks. I have a crested magpie and was a little confused about what that meant.
(This is to also help @Birdylady78 with her thread)


Is ‘crested’ a breed on its own, or does it always go along with a breed (crested Pekin, crested magpie, etc.)?

I heard from somewhere that the crest is caused by an incomplete skull, is this true?

Can the crest skip a generation?

If one of the ducks parents had a crest, will it?

Should I be worried about her breeding in the future? I don’t want our drake to pull on her crest. I wasn’t really planning on hatching any of her eggs, maybe only a few because magpies are adorable! Now I’m highly doubting all of this.

Not a huge crest you’ll just have to watch once breeding starts and separate if she shows wear on her head. The larger the crest the larger the hole in the skull. Ours looks pretty small.

She’s been eating and drinking just fine, no issues so far.
