Chirping
I’m certain this is an over-asked question, but I’m a new chicken mom, so please bear with me. We picked up 13 chickens from a fella on Saturday and he says they’re about 5 months old. Now, there are about 5-7 different kinds of chickens here, and I’m certain they can’t all be 5 months old. Some may be a little younger, some a little older. I don’t have any crowing YET, but I have some concerns that I may have a few Roos in my bunch and I can’t have that. They’ll need to go to my sisters house out of town. Some have what seem like overly large legs and feet, some seem to have overly large combs and wattles. Some just look a touch more “masculine” than others. Is there a tell-tale way of sexing these boogers before they crow and tick my neighbors off? I’ll need to get them out of here before that happens. None are laying yet. Could be age, could be heat, could be they just don’t want to? Help a new momma out, please?
