He died from feline peritonitis, which is 100% fatal in cats. No known treatments to cure. There are treatments, but it doesn't help with symptoms, only prolongs the inevitable.

The hospital sent us a fact sheet about it along with a sympathy card.

Thank you. He went to sleep on Saturday, so I have had a few days. We got the report tonight. I am just very thankful to know it isn't lack of care on our part or something else. I am just as glad to know that we can't have a cat for a year or it will get it too. Nasty disease!!! I had never heard of it.

He was only 4lbs. We should have gone sooner. Thing is, and of course we didn't know this, the disease allows them good days, so we kept thinking he was getting better. Hoping beyond hope I guess. Reality is we should have taken him in sooner.​
