A moment of mourning for the passing of an era

the same thing is happening in a town near me.
I offered to make, bake or buy what ever they wanted and bring it to them for their weekly bridge games

I have WHAT in my yard? :

And, apparently last year some kid brought in hash brownies at some school some where!

Are you kidding me?!!? Wouldn't you love to be that kid's parent.

I'm also in Illinois and know about this rule. I actually understand it when it comes to baked goods. Many elderly patients have reactions to different foods.

But I don't get the home raised vegetables & fruit thing. I'm sorry but you don't need ingredient labels on an apple. It is all apple. If they are concerned about pesticides than wash the dang thing. It is probably safer than what comes from the store. That one is just pure stupidity!

People, people, people... we seem to have lost sight of the main question.
What happened to the 40 cupcakes and why are we not eating them right now?!!!
Please try to focus on the important matters here.

That is just pitiful I make mad treats for my sons school I think all the past teachers know his birthday by heart and stop to see him that day LOL. It is a shame that the world has come to this bet hostess is behind it somehow LOL

And where are those cupcakes didn't see one pass my way

Our school has the homemade food rule too, but most teachers are willing to work with parents.

The issues are really food allergies, unhealthy food served at school, competition with the cafeteria (yep, that's one too...so no pizza from outside sources), cleanliness of preparation and knowing ingredients. I ususally bring two dozen donuts (Round Rock, of course) for my sons' birthdays.

Some principals and teachers are really strict about it some aren't. All it takes is some kid with a severe peanut or egg allergy and parent with the attitude "allergies are all in their heads, what they don't know can't hurt them" and you end up with a kid in the emergency room and the teacher and school getting sued. That's not good for anyone.

Oh boy would the schools with those rules have hated us for serving the 4th graders the dirty worm farm. You take oreos and crush them, put them in a bowl with gummy worms, then when it's time to serve it over ice cream.

My kids actually MADE dirty worms in class two years ago!

now, people I done tol' you I gave the cupcakes to the teachers!! Believe me I heard about it from my daughter!!

Now, THAT's what I would want to put into my mouth... NOT !! In the first place, dirty worm, then made by 44 little hands that you can only imagine where they were fifteen minutes ago.......
