Obviously not workable for up north however I live in Texas. Zone 8b borderline 9. They or other chickens will occupy this year round. Footprint is 6x5 giving a trio 10sft per. Have about $65 and 10 hours wrapped up into it. Housing doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive.
A little crowded with some freeloaders that will be evicted to their own coop this coming weekend. When they're a little crowded I keep them occupied pecking at a bottle with filled with corn chop and oats that has a hole just big enough to infrequently let a reward dribble out. Pecking the bottle keeps them from pecking on each other.
