I cant recommend it enough. In the past I would of never thought about adopting a 3 yr old dog, But you cant beat a loving, potty trained, 40mph couch potato. Who doesnt mind my 2 girls , my other dog and seems to do just fine with my chickens and ducks. Its a blessing and Im so proud of myself for saving this ones life.

www.americangreyhound.org- where I got her, in you are near NW Indiana, stop and take a look.
www.grey2kusa.org- place to help close race tracks

I bet she was named after Meryl Streep LOLOL!

She is a beautiful dog! Such a happy face, grinning ear to ear!

You are one lucky owner to adopt her!

Hats off to the Greyhound Shelter!

The local rescue I contacted cautioned me with our 2 daughters as she said that most Greys sleep soundly and when they are woken up they seem to snap at what ever wakes them, this has me leary as both my girls have been dog bit (older dd by my brothers German Shep when she was 18 months old and fell on him while he was sleeping) and younger dd by our old Poodle that for no reason ran across the room grabbed her face, shook and ran off (emma was only 10 months old and crawling) I saw it all as it happened in mere seconds right in front of my feet!

Momtosyd&emma- Yes I have read that some caution with younger kids. I took my girls with me to see how the dog got along with them first. Some of them just adore kids and babies. You could try a differnt group... everyone of them is different and I have like 10 groups In my state.

Writerofwords & Ewesheep- Thank you for being proud of me, Im proud too.

Oh the "owner" of the rescue group is SUPER nice, and very involved/informative in her dogs, she just didnt seem to think having small children with them was the "thing" to do, I guess maybe she has had bad luck!? I will probably hold off a while more and wait until something (age) happens to our Boxer (we THINK he is 8 years old but we have no idea as he is a rescue) So by then the girls will be older and less apt to startle a resting dog I would think! Sighhhhh I just have such a pull to these graceful dogs that it kills me to know that we could save a life NOW instead of later!

I agree, I understand how you feel. If I could Id have more of them. Maybe until you deceide to get one you could help outby joining places like grey2kusa to help stop racing and abuse?

have you ever seen pics of them baing abused? OMG it made me sick and I cried I could only watch like 30 secs. on youtube. Its so sad.... But anyways Goodluck.

She is so lovely and elegant, and looks like a total sweetheart!

I love greyhounds, they're such beautiful dogs! Good for you, giving her a happy home where you will love and help each other.
