A sad story from craigslist

The fakeness takes a LOT away from how effective this COULD be if written different. I cry about EVERYTHING.....well, everything real.

When I finished this story my eyes were as dry as when I started. It was more like reading a fiction story or watching a scary movie. I think people need to be informed about what happens to all those Easter chicks and bunnies, I think there should be laws against selling a parent of a screaming child a baby chick at Easter anyway (I know there are such laws in many places). Care information should be provided and even force these people to read it first if necessary....but fake sounding stories are just going to make these selfish parents roll their eyes and think "OH, I never thought about baiting it out of the back yard.....good plan.

what a sad tale - haven't we all had a pet that we loved and lost?
it sure made me think of a few.
we did get an Easter duckling one year when I was young - let it swim in the sink and tub. we had a farm tho, and that duck lived for 9 years and we did love it!

A tale that is made up is a LIE! A FALSEHOOD of words to DECIEVE people. You said "It doesn't MATTER if it is made up or not??????? Am I on the wrong PLANET????

I cant understand why you are getting so angry over this. The person writing this never said whether it was true or not. The reason for writing this is to get his point across about giving baby animals to kids for Easter. Your so hung up on the fact that it is a 'lie'. Look a little deeper into the story if you can.

Then I guess you don't read books???

Exactly!! Lots of good books out there are just fiction, not based on any truth at all, not ment as a lie, ment to entertain or teach.

more thought needs to be given when getting a child a pet as a gift, whether it be Easter or any reason. Any pet or animal taken into a home is a responsibility that too many people take too lightly

of course its fake..its basically like a fable of sorts to warn people about buying animals on impulse. kind of like that story about the teenager who dies in a drunk driving accident and "sees" his mom looking at him in the morgue, (ok, thats OBVIOUSLY not about animals) or the story about the puppy who grows up with a child and wonders why they are dumping him at the pound..its to evoke strong emotions and perhaps make people reconsider making bad choices.

issues much?

The bible is a book FULL of "tales" Yet people read it and take it to heart. Some more strongly than others.

The Grimm Brother fairy tales were all originally VERY different from the cute ones now read. But they were written to TEACH people and stop them from making foolish mistakes. Heck the non Disney version of Bambi is TERRIBLE!
Same as this little story. True or not. It was written to make people stop and THINK before they went out and bought their child a chick or baby bunny for Easter.

Maybe you need to stop and think before you hit "submit" Or at least lay off the coffee some

Fake or Not i think parents should read it not just for thier childrens sake but the chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits that are bought for easter to give to little kids then dumped after the cuteness wares off. After easter there is always pekins and other kinds of domestic ducks dumped at local ponds/lakes because they were bought for easter then thrown away . I rescued a goose and 2 ducks that were bought for easter then dumped . I know a lady that sells Poultry and rabbits and she says she get over whelmed whit all the rabbits, mducks geese and chicks that people drop off to her after easter .

thats why even though i am planning to sell my baby bunnies that i will soon have, i will never ever sell them during the easter season.
