Here's another! This is cute

struggling to create our own worlds
our surrounds a soft, bleeding glow
always learning and being reminded
that nothing lasts forever.
something that inspires awe
may hide behind it hours of hard labour
nothing left to show for it when
with the brush of a finger
all that remains are faint ghosts of memory.
but with a little perseverance
resisting the pressure to just walk away from it all
maybe
just maybe
we can create something that will last.
the one that keeps standing by
seeping outside its boundaries
to touch hearts thousands of miles away.
nowhere is gotten without first taking a step.
who knows
who ever knows?
how big that step could one day become
some find firm footing, to be blocked in their path
some slide away to be lost in the shadows of the past
and yet some
some become something more
and that's how a possibility becomes
reality.

I hear them talking
She has a much better chance than I ever will
What have I been doing?
Lurking in the corners at Dallas.
An endless stream, day in day out
hard work and sweat
But among that there are the moments
Which take us back to what makes it magical
Back to how it all started.
All those people, living out their dreams
Discovering their future
Will I ever join the line?
I'm just the girl who shares a little of their journey
The eternal sun, it might be burning out
In a world of despair, do we still dare to hope?
Moving aside for one who needs to get down
Checking in with a friend, asking after the boss
It reminds us that there are people behind those voices
they were where we all were
Back where it all started.
The stars hang around, slowly settling into their steady orbits
Unmovable.
Back when it all started,
There was still room to fly.

The economy's gone triple speed; Gillard can't sort a ban
On refugees, how many boats was that in the past week?
Opposition to the carbon tax is sailing for its peak

The national carrier recently ground to a halt
"Don't look at me! It was SO Tony Abbot's fault!"
The eruption of a volcano half a world away
Also had the airline bought down within a day

Not to mention their trans-Pacific alliance entity
American Airlines has just gone and filed for bankruptcy
The share market's fallen by a fifth so far this year
Wayne Swan bravely claims that he really has no fear

A budget surplus on the books by 2012?!
Public spending must be cut, into health he delves.
We're levelling towers in order to build more
The price of iron ore is going through the floor

It's coming out the Pilbara at breakneck speeds
Oh! But here the carbon tax proves to be a weed
Bluescope's closing down blast furnace number six
Onesteel's closing a whole plant looking for a fix

Gillard still has to argue about gay marriage
While over in Athens parliament's facing a barrage
Of protestors who think austerity is a load of crap
Well guys - suck it up - if Germany's downgraded, snap!

The Eurozone could be sent under, world economies break down
Then it'll be more than Merkel who's wearing a frown
China thinks they have it bad with inflation in the sky
Australia's had two interest rate cuts - all since July!

In the states, public confidence has been torn
Are we really scrutinising where Obama was born?
They all think he did bad with the unemployment rate
The credit downgrading really got them all into a state

In Canberra the tension is as high as America's debt
Is Kevin Rudd still in the picture?! Well, he'd be willing to bet.
We really need a laugh in this economic gloom...
How about we plant Gillard down onto the Ribs of Doom?!

The economy/politics one is more like the stuff I usually do. I'll have to post more of those some time.

I wouldn't classify my present frame of mind as "depressed" exactly.
