I didn't think it was possible to write about that subject, but you have proved me wrong!

Well, I spotted a few spelling errors, but... -_O

I wrote this one back in August, as any of you who follow the crude oil price might be able to tell.

The stock market's crashed
I've lost seven grand
Even Rio Tinto
has hit rocky land

Gold's breaking records
I could've made cash
Instead I picked iron ore
I'm in for a bash

Crude oil's a worry
It's fallen sub-eighty
Credit downgrading
Has been all fashion lately

Rumours abound
Will the GFC return?
Wall Street's a bloodbath
Watch those stocks crash and burn!

Profits are falling
Nobody's spending
Property markets are plummeting
And don't mention lending!

Even defensives
Have struggled of late
The banks can't decide
If they should raise interest rates

There's riots in London
Debt crises in Greece
And over in Washington
They can't seem to make peace!

But give it a while
it'll turn round in a few
There'll always be bad times...
Believe me, it's true!

Five months later, and I'm still waiting for this turnaround. I was too optimistic. Fortescue has fallen a further $1.40.

The Pilbara actually is pretty scary. It's a giant plain of dust, basically. Covered in mines. The sort that dig metal out the ground, not the sort that explode.

Looking forward to see it! I love spectacularly short poems. I have a few.

The Aspiring Meteorologist

Geography was such a blast
I found out what sleet is at last!
Is that really precipitation?
This is ground-breaking revelation

Think of what I'll do in meteorology!
When I've crammed through the terminology
Does "Low" really have a complex meaning?!
One day I'm going to wake up screaming

We're getting to the professional side
With cirrus, stratus and cum... cumulo... skip this line.
The isobars are packed close again
Does that mean wind has died down then

Looks like a storm's coming from the east
I think Perth's west of Cairns at least
The ceiling height, why do you ask?
Looks like seven feet at first glance

You'll have to ask the maintenance guys
Getting rained on out watching the skies
...Rain?! I thought there was a Low today!
Can't get my head round this heresay

Why temps are hovering below thirty (... aren't they?)
I swear by now boss wants to hurt me (you don't say!)
Humidity's declining up a treat
Their destiny these clouds are going to meet!

These patterns warrant a bushfire warning
The sun'll be scorching by tomorrow morning
Drawn up the charts and sent them out
I'm going home now, give the boss a shout

Pretty pleased with my work today
Perhaps I'll even get a rise in pay
Now to wait for the sun to come through
I really love my job, it's true!!
