A silly question about mule ducks

There's green duck eggs?!

I will do everything in my power to keep ducky this side of death, even if I have to drag him kicking and screaming. Thankfully, the best thing I can do right now is just keep him warm and humid and a moist membrane and let him do his thing.

I'll be heading to bed myself soon, so I'll be sure to update in the morning.
Yes my Mallards all lay green eggs. I don't eat Ham though so I can't do the Green Eggs and Ham thing, lol.

Random non urgent, but for future hatches question:

The only time I've heard any chirping or noises from Thomas (excluding clicking while breathing) is when I reapplied neosporin this morning. Are all ducks quiet while hatching? Or are muscovies? Or is this a unique thing for Thomas? I think that's why there's some of the "is everything ok?!" anxiety. None of my chickens were this quiet while hatching, and some of them I could even hear across the room before external pipping. This little dude, though, is almost silent.
They can be resting and they are quiet when doing that. It takes a lot out of them when hatching.

Morning update: baby is still yawning and chewing, which my husband has proclaimed "he's chewing on his yolk!"

I'm assuming there's some yolk in there that's still absorbing that I hadn't seen through candling/the limited peeks I could through the egg. Those blood vessels are now looking extremely thin, but still still present.

He still has his foot flopped out and over his face. Every now and then he stretches his toes out, and it's the cutest thing. I'm also imagining that he is just so fed up with the world at this point, he can't bring himself to look. I'm going to be peeking in on him much more frequently today. I hope he gets his foot back where it belongs so he can zip himself out, but I'm also not holding my breath there.

He's been doing a lot of squirming around in there this morning, still breathing well, still as quiet as a mouse.

Still chugging along. Getting some sassy foot flips. More squirming and pipping motions than noms or yawns, but still a mix of both. I'm half expecting him to wait until I fall asleep and then try launching himself from the egg.

Woke up to baby trying to push out of the hole in the egg, but obviously stuck. Struggling pretty hard, so I opened up the egg, and he's still struggling and pushing a bit. Freed his head, took a quick peek in there, and he is down to about a bean sized little yolk still absorbing. Into the time out cup he goes, still in bottom half of egg.

He stomped his feet on the shell rim, tucked his head back in the egg, and went back to pippy and zippy motions with his beak.

I'm hatching the world's sassiest duck
