Abandoned ducklings.. not again..

I'm incubating right now, and on Saturday, February 13 they are supposed to hatch.

That's so great that they're so comfortable with you! I hear a lot of people talk about how their domestic ducklings aren't friendly, but a wild one?! So cute.

Technically it's still a domestic duck, just from a feral population. There are tons of Muscovy in the "wild" here but none are truly wild, all decendants of pets that flew away

Muscovy ducks can have ducklings at times when other ducks cannot or do not. Personally, I've never seen a seagull grab a duckling, except once. Since they have a mother, I would not worry about them. They will either survive or not. It's sad, but ducklings are a big part of the food chain, and seagulls are probably the least of their worries. Muscovy ducks tend to hatch more ducklings than any other ducks, too. If you raise them, you will have to find homes for them, and that can be difficult in many locations. Not trying to be cruel here, but I took care of dumped domestic waterfowl for years and years in a city park.

Oh, thanks for clarifying! When I visited Florida I noticed them all over, so I just assumed it was some 'wild exotic bird' until I figured out they were Muscovies.. That's really interesting though.
