Abandoned wild turkey egg Alive!?

I have a broody duck on eggs (first one hatched overnight, yeah!) but last week when she was off the eggs in the evening, I decided to candle them. I accidentally dropped one egg on another. Made a little dent/crack in the one that was on the bottom. Of course, it looked great at the time. I ran inside and grabbed a piece of paper-ish medical tape and stuck it on the egg. The last time she was off the eggs, 2 days ago, I checked and the taped one was still doing fine. I've hatched them in the incubator with the paper tape before. The only time I tried wax, I must have used the wrong kind because it just kinda sloughed off in the heat.
That was my other thought, I didn't know if the wax would stay on in the incubator. I do have medical tape though, I might try the wax thing first since a lot of people tend to go with that. But if that doesn't work then i'll go with the medical tape. Thank you for the advice~ :frow

So like candle wax? Will scented candle wax effect the egg or anything? I flipped all the eggs in the incubator, fat end up.. So I shouldn't change the humidity? Alright.. Thank you for the reply~

I'd try for unscented wax. I've also heard that Nu-Skin, stuff you can buy for wounds from a pharmacy, works really well. If you don't have those I'd try the medical tape like WV suggested, and if you don't have that, scotch tape :) I've successfully done scotch tape before.

Humidity is hard to say. I personally use a lower humidity, around 30%, but that won't work for everyone. You kinda just have to figure out what humidity is going to work best for your area through trial and error. You might want to lower it to around 40% and see how that's working by watching the air cell growth, and then adjust as needed.

I might just lower the humidity a bit then.. Will candle wax be good enough? All the candles i've are scented..

Hope it hatches! Do you have any turkeys?
I sure do~ I've got 2 Royal palm hens that are sharing a clutch of 6 poults, 1 Broad breasted bronze hen who was a rescue, 1 hen that's a mix between a bourbon and something else, And 1 Tom who's actually part wild and part Bronze~ So hopefully if it does hatch I can put it in with the other poults once it gets a little bigger.

To be honest, I'm not sure because I've never done it. I did just find this info, which is interesting, and seems like it would work well:

The glue thing sounds a bit iffy for me.. And the crack isn't really small.. I've also got just regular birthday candles I could use? If that's a no no then I might just go with the medical tape.

Birthday candles might work, those aren't scented. Could try it and if it doesn't work do the tape :)

It's not the prettiest but it's done, Sure hope this works :fl

Looks good!
I tried the Nu-skin stuff, not sure what brand it was, but that stuff stinks! It was so strong smelling, I took out the only egg I ever tried it on, and never used it again. Not even on myself. Lol some wicked smelling stuff, I was afraid of the fumes. May have just been the brand I bought.

I know. I screwed up my hand with a shovel, long story don’t ask, and I tried using that stuff. I was screaming in pain, I think that stuff is like 90% sulphuric acid.
