About my clothesline...

only "problem" I have had with the line drying is the fur/lint

So I pop the line dried clothes in the dryer for 5 minutes to pull some of it off. Nothing stinks more than getting out of a shower. Grabbing a "clean" line dried towel from the closet and finding black cat and dog fur on your previously clean body after you have toweled off some.

When we had the wood fence up in the back yard my hubby would wash and then toss his clothes over the fence to dry. But the sun fades his black t-shirts if done to many times. Then you have to worry about those little afternoon showers that pop up every day here. But I love to hang the sheets out to dry. Love the way they smell when you put them on the bed.

There is nothing like your undies flapping on the line in the sunshine.

That's pretty funny!

We use our clothesline whenever practical. We have started adding little liquid fabric softerner to the wash if we know the luandry is going outside though (for softness).

Any cheap alternatives to liquid fabric softener out there?

Just plain old vinegar in the rinse cycle.

ok, so dumb question alert:

Does the vinegar make your clothes smell like vinegar? I really can't stand the smell of vinegar.

One other wonderful benefit of line-dried clothes--I haven't used bleach in years.
The sun does a wonderful job of keeping my whites nice and bright--even my mother wanted to know how I got my whites so bright! If I'm worried about something fading I dry it inside-out. I do dry my towels in the dryer--hubby does NOT like stiff line-dried towels. Oh well.

I'm soooo envious. I want a solar powered dryer. My BF insists that our clothes will end up with bird poo and dirt all over them. Curiously, it does no good to remind him that most of our clothes have bird poo and dirt on them anyway.
