About to set eggs...Please advize on humidity...

Oh man......Why'd ya have to say that? Now I want to go put mine in!

Seriously though, I think I'm going to wait until morning and if the humidity stays in a safe range, I'll pop them in then....but boy...temptations, temptations!

Tiffany, thank you for all of your words of wisdom tonight! It's been awesome having you answer all of our questions and concerns

I think you may be right about having to close the vent again. It's already dropped to 43 (which isn't bad at all, but if it were to keep dropping....) I'll just see how it does by morning and go from there. I'm really impressed with the temp though. I've had to open it several times and within a couple of minutes, it's right back in the 100 range (101 once)

Good luck Kim!

Kelley, I couldn't stand it! I've had my bator running since Saturday, and the hum/temp have been stable since Monday or Tuesday...I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't put those babies in there.

Keep me posted on how things go!!

try pulling 1 of the vent plugs out just alittle and see what it does. adding the paper towel want hurt either. You can also lift up on 1 corner for just a second or 2 and see if that helps. What day are you on? Where do you have your incubator set up? 70% is high.

I have both the plugs taken out completely! You mean lifting a corner of the lid? It makes it come down, but it goes right back up. I have chicken eggs on day 13 and day 7, plus i have quail eggs on day 5/6. My incubator is set up in the spare bedroom. It hasn't been that high before, idk what the problem is with it. Ever since I put a fan in it, the humidity runs higher. it has been about 55%, but it went crazy this time!

ok guys stupid question what is a wiggler. Never heard of it and just have to know. Hope you get your humidity straight. My first hatch lost all due to it. Learned after that. Good luck. I set eggs about a hour ago so will keep in touch as we will all be hatching same time. jamie821

Hey, Jamie. Hope you will have a much better hatch this time!! The wiggler is supposed to simulate the temp inside the egg. I don't have one, though. Hope that's not a mistake...We'll see, I guess.

Anyway, definately keep us posted!!

Shelley - do you have a backup hygrometer? Do you think there may be a problem with the one you are using, especially since you've not had the problem before. And, is it close to the fan? Don't know if that makes a difference, but???

Yelp, Kim has it right. The wiggler is a dollar store toy that is filled with water. I do not have one and I have never used one either. Alote of people on here use them.

Tiffany - Guess I've talked to you too much lately if I'm taking your words. Ha!!
Actually, can't believe I actually knew those answers. I'll have to tell DH that I am not wasting time just playing on the computer... LOL!
