You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. I'm Southern. Would have been surprised to be other than.

My ears are Southern for sure. I can't understand those fast talkers from up north. My ears are too slow.

Mine was neutral. I was born in KY, lived in TX for a few years, and the rest has been in IL and IN. I know when I hang around my central/southern IN friends, I come back with what my husband calls a "Terre Haute accent".
