tho if it were me I'd have my birds in the house or garage on high ground...

It's getting very scary. Looks like it's headed straight for us. It's what our local meteorologists say, anyway. Weather Channel says it may shift west before hitting Louisiana. Who knows? Way too many animals to leave, but we need to keep the family safe. So hard................................

I know there are a whole bunch of us who live more in the path than I do. I'm north of Tampa. I'm sure we'll at least get an outer whip.
I hope everyone stays safe. And pets, too. If 145 mile an hour winds were headed here, my horses would be in the garage too!.

Well, you do the best you can. That's all you can do. You might want to label your animals in some way. I don't know how many you have, but putting a red paint spot on an inner thigh or something like that can go a long way.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll do that tomorrow. We've got 5 horses, 3 dogs, 2 goats, and lots of chickens. The horses we'll keep stalled, and we converted the feed room in the horse barn to temporary chicken quarters. The chickens will be cramped, but it's all we can do. That and pray......Wish us all luck.

My husband just informed me that he herd that New Orleans areas are giving away pet cariers for any kind of animal..

Maybe something to look into.. obviously not for horses but maybe someone else out there on BYC could use this info..

We too are preparing.. We are just on the outside of the cone. ETA: no longer on the outskirts .. we are far from the cone. But it could change and there are MORE!!
