Acres Poultry hatching thread with aliciaplus3!

Pics
currently I have 4 incubators going, so yes I run a staggered hatch each week but move the ones due to hatch into a separate incubator. I am still in the fine tuning stages of the cabinet incubator, as I have only had it a year or so? I finally quit tinkering at 2 am and went to bed. when I woke up this morning the bator was sitting steady at 99... whew!
I'm going to duct tape your hands so you can't tinker 😂😉

here they are! but how will I candle??? hum
now to double check the hatcher?
I mean it wont hurt to add another thermometer to it right??
and I will just sit on my hands over here>>>:lau:jumpy
ok now
Two of mine just hatched 😁 I'm so excited!

I try to not tinker. I may have helped one of the chicks early this morning and made it's hole bigger 😂 MORE DUCT TAPE 🙈

I was worried I had killed em all so we did a candling. Only 2 were pulled for quitting everything else we pulled was non starters. Whew! I feel better. We will candle again tomorrow or Monday when we movd next weekends hatch into the hatcher just to be sure.
Edited to add: we saw movement or veins in most everything else. A few marans eggs are so dark it's hard to determine but we are going to leave em and prsy.

Woke up to a shrill turkey distress call at 4
30 am, one of this weekends hatches was stuck in its shell. So I popped its cap off and put it back in to dry off. Just in time I noticed that its brother was having trouble zipping due to being sticky... got it out and a nice warm shower to remove the "gunk" and it's doing well.

Good job rescuing them!

Literally a 'shower'...like under running water?!
Yes running tap water. I use my wrist to make sure I dont burn them. It's the most efficient way i have found to un"gunk" them so they do not stick to the bator floor and die because they cant move.

Brave woman!
Have had a few gunky ones, never so bad to stick to the bator floor tho 8-0 ...
...just so they have that brylcreem look once dried...which I may loosen with a soft tooth brush and some very gentle fingertip preening.
