Acres Poultry hatching thread with aliciaplus3!

Plan to set as many eggs from our dual purpose pen as we can fit on the incubator a week from tomorrow. We are hopeful these will produce some decent birds for the dual purpose meat class at our county fair. My youngest DD has decided to entertain my theory and take some of our homegrown mutts. This will give her 2 market class potentials turkeys and chickens(but not the Franken chickens). I think she is planning to hatch everything she can for 3 weeks in the hopes of making a good looking pen of 3. With any luck she will manage to hatch some out of the red broiler hens covered by big boy

he weighted in at 5 pounds at 12 weeks? If memory serves me. We hope he will pass on good genes

R2elk is just a day drive away from you, probably as far as he is from me. At least the drive is pleasant. He's one of the breeders working on the legbar rosecomb project. It's worth a drive to see his fantastic setup. He's a handyman homesteader.
yes he an I have exchanged messages. He has made some very generous offers, my biggest problem is being able to leave my place for that long. according to google its only 441 miles and 7hours 20 mins. from here to casper. ok so the way I drive that means 9 hours cuz I drive like an old grandma. lol I am still working on talking DH into what is for us a Long Trip.
Don't get me wrong I am more than interested! but DH is not convinced yet

ok silly ducks finally have external pips... either I can't count or the incubator is running a little low???

kept hearing cheeping this morning... checked the babies in the brooders, nope they looked ok, checked the nr360, nope no duckies running around yet. what the ???:barnie
got to listening and it was coming from the cabinet incubator!! :th
we had some Necked neck eggs that we thought we had mislabeled and they were hatching in the turners in the cabinet incubator:lau
2 had escaped and were running around the bottom the others were still in the turners either almost out or just sitting there. So we quickly moved that set of eggs into the nr360 with the duck eggs and now we wait for them to finish hatching.... wow
