Acting weird

Ok I got her some probiotics I'll just put the probiotics in some fresh water when get home and give an update on how everyone's doing.

Ok so I just sat out with my chickens for a while and my EE seems perfectly fine. She's eating, scratching, drinking and talking to me and fussing when I picked her up. My mom noticed she was drinking a lot of water though but it is about 90 degrees today. After she drank the water she lowered her head to peck at stuff in the dirt and some water came out of her mouth and she lifted her head to drink it back. I felt her crop and it isn't completely full but it's squishy I assume from the water. I'm thinking she's drinking a lot because it's hot today but I'm scared it could be a crop issue. I did have some hay in the nesting boxes for a couple weeks but last week I took it out because I noticed they were trying to eat it and I replaced it with pine shavings. I really hope she's fine. Any thoughts??

No, it's just hot.....they do gorge on water and it can come back out, have seen it plenty of times.

What are you doing to relieve the heat for them?
Deep shade and moving air(fan) is the best.
I use large shallow pans and dump a bunch of ice cubes in them....no water-you don't want them gorging on ice cold water.
They will walk around in the pan cooling their feet and sip at the ice water as it melts.
I also dump cubes in the shade to dampen the ground.

Not sure she needs probiotics either<shrugs>but they won't hurt.
I have used chicksaver(vitamins and electrolytes) when it's really hot out and it definitely seemed to help
Only mixed a quart dose (for 20 birds) and put out after the ice cubes so everyone got a beakful or two.
They don't need it constantly or even daily, someone who lives where it's always hot only gives a dose every 2-3 weeks.

The entirety of the run is covered by a large blue tarp. It's also partially under a large tree. I have 3 different gallon containers of cool water and I gave them half of a small watermelon to share between 9 birds. Yeah I'm not sure about the probiotics but I don't think it cold hurt to give it to them I gave electrolytes yesterday so I didn't give any today. That's really makes me relieved that it's normal when they drink a lot. Thank so much everyone!

Ok so this morning I checked on them about 2 hours after they got up my EE seems to be acting normal I saw her drinking and picking stuff on the ground but I haven't seen her really eat even though I wasn't out there long enough to really make sure she was eating(I didn't see all of the others eat for sure so I think she's just not hungry). I felt her crop and it feels full of water it's like the size of a golf ball so I think that's like the size of a normal full crop. She had diahrrea as well but so did my cockerel and I usually see them with it after it was hit the day before. Does this sound like a crop issue or am I putting too much thought into it? Still no eggs...

I replied further back in this thread and it does sound to be diet.....Restrict treats for a few days ...more like a week or two....We all love to feed treats but stomach problems happen....I am trying to help you...?

Best of luck...

Cheers!

Thanks for the advice I'm welcome to any. I'll restrict treats and see how they do. Do you think this is a serious problem or something that'll be cleared up in a few days or so? Should I keep them on probiotics/electrolytes or just give fresh cool water, food and grit? Thanks again everyone

Probiotic for a few days and just the feed and water...Grit also.....
Less we fool around with diet the better the birds are......

Cheers!
