Hi,
The 9 others are predominantly silkies as well, with a couple others mixed in. We have one confirmed rooster (a younger one), who is very proud of himself. He lets us know often. One other potential silkie roo (one of our younger ones), but we're beginning to doubt it.
The coop was a shed that held tractors inside - I'm not good with measurements, but you could fit at least 4 grown men inside of it with room to spare.....
We can shovel the snow out - yes. But, they are refusing to use the run. It's very cold, and even when we have placed them outside to get some fresh air, or have encouraged them with treats, they quickly retreat back inside. I don't entirely blame them.
It has now been a couple of weeks and we have kept them separate just to ensure things are going smoothly. Thinking it may be acceptable soon so do what you had mentioned over the course of a weekend to better supervise them.
