?? I have seen a few references to paintball guns.. where do you get them??how much do they cost??and how far do they shoot??

You can get them at WalMart in the Sporting Goods Department, so I suppose Target or any other Sporting Goods store would have them. they can range in price anywhere from $40.00 and up. They use a CO2 cartridge to give them power.

But they can be considered abuse so research first. Killing is often legal but things like rock salt & paintball are often deemed cruelty.

If she cannot contain her animals then they need to go go go. It is her fault and she needs to make things right. After my heighbors dog killed 4 of mine, he immediately said the dog would go and the next day he went to a shelter.. His dog had also killed all of his own hens in the previous weeks. Erinm

I'd be shooting the first time I saw the dogs.

Boo very hoo she's on unemployment. That means nothing. Take her to small claims. You have lost a huge investment.

If the dogs come again. SSS. I'm sure there's somewhere on those 30 acres to bury a dead dog.

if she is unemployed, she should have plenty of time on her hands to make sure her dogs are where they are supposed to be!

I don't know about you, but my animals are like my kids. They depend on me for food, shelter, and protection. And NOBODY is going to hurt them if I can help it!! And I CAN help it. I have a 22 magnum, and I have used it before. I love all kinds of animals, but my animals come first. Do what you have to do....

Hmmm, $40.oo paint,,,4 cents .22

paint, closer to the dog than I care to be,,,,, .22 up to a safe 100 yards away..

paint, at maximum range, probably
would not sting enough to prevent future visits... .22 guarantees no future visits...

and yes, I hope to shout, paintball would be abuse.. that is what we are after, isn't it??

I would be very cautious about catching a dog in these circumstances.. I have been bitten twice , THAT is abuse..

1. Inform dog owners once and present bill for damages if total is $30 or over. This gives a person a chance to correct her mistake.

2. Shoot dogs if found on your property once again~ harassing or killing livestock, or not~they are obviously there to repeat their previous success.

3. Shoot anymore dogs arriving from this source. Consider this person warned and do what you have to do to stem this source of predators to your livestock.

4. End of problem.

I'd leave her dead dog on her porch with a bill attached. I've gone through this and from now on ANY stray on my place is harrassing my chickens and will be shot on sight.

I agree with the last two posters. Been through that, and that is exactly what I am going to do from now on. I had to watch a stray dog carry my beloved Cocky around in his mouth and bury , dig and rebury him on my neighbors yard. It was a big dog and I was too scared to try and take him away from him. I called the dog catcher and it was determined to be a stray. he took him away to be destroyed. Next time if it happens again It will be shot , i f possible. So sorry for your loses and the pain you must feel.
