ADVICE PLEASE...SHOULD I PUT THIS PULLET DOWN?????/ UPDATE RIP SCARLET

You are one clever gal. I'm hoping Scarlet pulls through this (and I'll bet she does with such imaginative care) with flying colors.

Best of luck with Scarlet! I know exactly what you mean about bonding with them more when you go through something like this. I've got a roo that I really should give away; I have no good place to put him, but I nursed him through a long illness, and I just can't part with the boy now! He's the only one from that hatch that comes right up to say hello when I go to the pen now! And - it was well worth it to tend to him & get him better. GOOD LUCK!

You are doing a great job with Scarlet. Don't give up on her. Hang in there. It'll be worth it to see her running around with the other chickens again. That sling is really imaginative. I'll have to keep that in mind if ever I need one. Keep up the good work and I'll keep my fingers crossed for Scarlet!

Thanks guys.........I am chicken sitting right now....she sure is being good. I still have her in a sling but laying on a towel........just to keep her in place so she doesn't roll. She is still eating like a little pig and drinking her pedialite. I am going to meet my neighbor in the pool in a little while but I will take her out to the run to see her bud's before I do......then just lay her in her box for awhile.

She's a cutie!!!

Thanks so much.......would you believe the first vet I went to had no experience with a simple farm animal such as a chicken?

give me a break

Not uncommon! Most of us here don't have a vet around that will deal with chickens!

Im facing the same prob right now. My pullet got stuck in the fence and broke her hip. My brother offered just to shoot her in the head but I can't do it. She walks on one leg, but I feel sorry for her because she sees all the other chickens running around scratching, and she can't do it herself.
