Advise please - juvenile peahen with possible lung infection or pneumonia.. She gapes as she breathes. No gape worm. No sinus problems. She whoops occasionally. Has been wormed, treated with Tylan 200. Has had this all winter. She is segregated. Eats, drinks & poo ok. What more can I do?

How much Tylan did you give her and how long did you give it? Since Tylan treats mostly gram-positive bacteria like mycoplasma, you could try something like Baytril in case it's a gram-negative bacteria like E. coli.

OTC sources:
The dose I would use is 0.07 ml per pound of bodyweight orally twice a day.

There is also a chance that she injured her trachea flying into something. I just did a necropsy on a friend's peahen that had been open-mouth breathing for months, and it appears that she flew into something and crushed her trachea. :(

WOW I never gave injury a thought! I had given her 1CC of Tylan 200 for 3 days, orally. I have throat swabbed checking for gape worms, none.
