After raising poultry are eggs ruined for you guys?( I raise ducks but this occurs to anybody)

Been there, ate that. Cow, rabbits, goat, chickens, deer, fish, quail, chukkar, etc. Never had a problem gutting a trout, but never could deal with dispatching and dressing the land critters. Others loved the show and mess, as well as the delicacies afterward. "Scrambled eggs and Brains" for breakfast the day after the slaughter. Never could figure out a way to get THAT into my mouth .

Neighbors would make blood sausage. That one really got me.

I extra like the eggs now, it's store eggs the weird me out now.- I know the girls are happy and doing all the dumb things they want and I have yelled "I feed you I this is rent" more then once when one of them gives me the side eye when I'm getting eggs.

No one give side eye better then duck.

Though really they are probably wondering if I'm handing out treats.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with me not liking eggs any longer. I always have loved eggs chicken and duck and goose since that the 3 species I have just got out of the habit of using them for us. I hated having to buy store bought eggs and so far in 14 yrs haven’t had to.

I can't eat Duck eggs. I just can't get the fork past my teeth....I don't eat many eggs period..

Now, I have a friend who keeps telling me the goose egg he ate when he was a kid was rubbery. Is this generally the case or did he get a fluke, or was it poorly cooked?

I haven’t ever eaten a rubbery goose egg but possibly if you cooked it too long it would get that way.

That is seriously what my friend says..she is always...always saying " You are eating Jeffery's babies"... and I think ' they are really my girls not his, they lay them!'. They ain't babies until they are incubated.

I know right...she is NOT a duck person so I don't blame her. Funny thing is we got her old dog house to use a duck house! As her being a contribute I think she should learn a bit more about ducks!

Yeah...like it does not start "forming" till incubated?

Actually the ovum doesn't get fertilized by the sperm until incubation starts. It's just and egg with extra junk in it.

ok So I should have no worries that the eggs on my counter are going to turn to ducklings!
