Against the odds hatching thread (with pictures and questions)

Pics
This is an odd place to ask... it’s a thread for one specific hatch. Start a new thread and ask your question there, and more people will see it. Include more details, too - how are the two batches different? Were they set on different days, if yes - how far apart? Etc.
2 days apart I had no choice to do it like that one lot are bantams crosses and other are white leghorn laced Orpington susessx

What are you using for a hygrometer , digital or analog ?
Digital. I'm using this one right now:
https://smile.amazon.com/AcuRite-Hu...ords=acurite+hygrometer&qid=1585919806&sr=8-4

But it's not accurate. I salt tested it twice and it showed 65% both times (instead of 75%). So I ordered a second, different one (arrives on Sunday) -

I'll salt test that one as well and we'll see what it shows.

Sweet perfection :wee

Thanks for the info . I've got a Zoo Med digital that I need to check(calibrate) but it has the wired probe that I'm not sure about using with the Incubator we are getting . There doesn't seem to be much out there in the Analog or old type dial . I just want something decent and fairly accurate to keep an eye on the onboard hygrometer on the incubator .

Yeah, definitely a good idea to get something to complement whatever the incubator comes with.

Now that the first candling day is approaching, is there anything I should keep in mind when candling so many eggs? I know the basics of do it as quickly and carefully as possible. But with 41 eggs, that's gonna be a lot of opening and closing... Should I do them back to back and just open and close the lid a million times, be done with it in one go and leave it alone, or should I space them out more, like over the course of the day, or several hours? Letting it come back up to temperature between eggs? Between every X eggs? What's the least disruptive way to do this?
