I'm excited to hear how things are going with the eggs!

well, it turns out the temp was about 98 instead of 100 the whole time. the thermometer was off by 2 degrees. but, now that i have the temp finally were it should be, they are growing like weeds! i've been candling occasionally just to see the progress for i now have to go on their progress not the calendar to see when they enter their final days. i was so mad when i found out about the temp. we had tested the thermometer to see if it was calibrated, and it was. turns out the thermometer in our house is also off.

i was able to borrow a lazer thermometer (forgot the real name) and discovered the temp was off. i'm hoping and praying that everything turns out okay and i get some babies out of this mess.

I'm waiting on my duck...
She's been on her nest faithfully (for who knows how long); gets off in the morning to eat, drink and swim, then goes right back on.

Buff Mama shall live up to her name! ♥
(The 'Mama' part, lol)

I just found this thread after having read the one where you lost Slushie and Chubby. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your hatch. Chances are some of the ducklings will remind you of their parents -- they won't be the same, but possibly very similar.

I found the best way to candle duck eggs is to shine the light over the air cell and from behind the egg, but you have to get the angle just right, which means you have to keep moving the egg or the light around until you get it just right . . . then, yes, you should see veins near the air cell, but otherwise you really just see a blob. All you can really rely on is your nose to sniff out the bad ones.
