Akita owners, unite! (If you are out there somewhere)

Akita owners... unite! I have created this thread and am dedicating it to the beautiful, wonderful, but stubborn Akita breed! If there are any of you out there who are the lucky owners of this breed, come on over, I promise you won't be barking up the wrong tree!

My family has shown and bred Akitas for years, they started around 1999 up until 2008! Their last litter was in 2008, my dear JJ's litter! The father of his litter was an AKC champion, he was one of the ones they bred!
Sadly, my dear Jake passed early this year, and I was heartbroken, he was the last remaining of his littermates, he outlived them, and his parents. (He does however have one last sibling, who belongs to someone else, but we aren't sure how she is)
He was blind since he was young, and probably had some other mild neuro problems, but that is one of the reasons I am at peace with his passing, as hard as it is not waking up and taking care of him. God bless you JJ, you are forever loved and missed!

Since most dog breeders know, it is not an easy or cheap hobby to keep up, and it is hard finding forever homes for them because some of the ones they bred they had to take back.

When we lost our old house girl a few years back, Anya, we bought our dear Emi, a four-year-old who has taken on Anya's task of guarding and loving this family, here is her photo! She is larger than most females of her breed, weighing in at around 125lbs!

I am going to end my post here, and I hope there are at least a few Akita owners on BYC that could drop on by!

Mine lives off biscuits. He's very stubborn but if you have a biscuit in your hand he'll do whatever you want. I didn't think Akita's could live that old.

Sure! 2 of them are mainly my sisters (just wanted to make sure I did a shout out), but we live together so they are basically mine. The other one is my absolute favorite, she is so obedient!

we have a border collie, husky, and mix (my favorite although I love the others as well...just a tiny bit less)

He was tied up in a scrap yard someone called and spca took him. He was two cages from the bullet room when we found him. We leashed him for a test walk and he started heading for the car. We tried to get him to go back to sign papers but he laid down and shut his eyes. So sad.

I have a pit thats about 17 and a mix thats 14. All about the food. No canned processed for them ever. I should eat as well as my animals lol.

Our pit just turned 11, but she doesn't look, act, or feel a day over 5. Shes had kibble and table scraps her whole life She's a bit overweight, but healthy as an ox!

I don’t have an Akita, but would love one. unfortunately I have cats (I also have a dog) and everything I could finds says they are bad with cats , are they bad with cats even if they grow up with them? I really want a spitz but can’t find any large spitz breeds that are good with cats.
