Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Bonnie,

It looks as though they are having another swap meet at Palmer Pet Zoo on Saturday, I have always had wonderful
luck getting arid of roosters there. The email you got was the same one I got from some Asian folks..they were really nice
and came to get some barred rock roosters I had last year....
I'll be busy with bunny shows all weekend otherwise I'd go to the swap meet just to see what they have....Ehaus, you might
also check out the swap meet since you'll be out here anyhow, it's a good place to pick up older chicks as well.

Deb,
The one guy doesn't want to drive this far and for $5 I'm not transporting them. If I transport it would be $10. However, someone else has asked about them and seems very interested. Hoping to get an email back today on if he would come out to get them. If he says no I'll have to consider the swap meet, how do they work?

Swap meet sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't have anything to swap. And the fact that I can only have three hens makes things hard for me. I wish I could have at least 5.

Or more! I like having a small backyard flock, but I've always had 5-10 at a time. I feel like the old man in Millions of Cats, who kept seeing kitties he liked!

Thanks Deb. I didn't know about that and might go in myself. I have a couple to part with also, and would like to see if any blue egg layers are there

Ehaus, I think they sell also....

Goats?! Don't even get me started. I'm trying to figure out how I can do a goat share....where someone else shares all the expenses and I get all the milk.

No, but really, I would like to go in on a milking doe or two, but we don't need that much milk. I mostly just enjoy them, so if anyone just wants the milk without the headache, let's talk! I know of a small herd for sale at a good price, two girls currently in milk, two doelings almost old enough to breed for next spring, and two bucklings that could be wethered for pack goats. I have one other person interested in sharing.

Rachel, let me talk to Sam when he's not being a butthead from not smoking. I have never had goat's milk, but I bet I would LOVE butter from it! What does the 'sharing' involve? You keep the goat and I get to have some milk from her?
