Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Aimee, my son's girlfriend's Dad (how's that for convoluted?) smoked one of the roos I gave him and said it was awesome. I really hope you can do that. It would be terrific I am sure...

I am worn out!! The kids and I made the co-op milk run this morning and met Tracy in Palmer at 11:30 to get barley. The farmer is very nice. He loaded our ton and we were on the way home. We made a few stops to adjust the tarp and straps, but made it home in one piece.

Bonnie did you go by? I was hoping to see you. I brought some mealworms I thought you might be interested in for starting your own "colony".

Tracy picked up some poly bags at Mill and Feed and brought my feed bags I'd been collecting. We bucketed the barley into the bags and tied the tops as fast as we could go. We put the kids in the big box to fill buckets when the level started going down. They had a ball and we managed to bag up 2000 pounds in an hour or less.

What really surprised us is that it didn't look like as much as we thought it would be. Basically, we thought it was totally worth the trip and would do it again. He has plenty for all that want some. I think he has some oats as well, for anyone who might want some for horses. He says people come with bags, boxes and big garbage cans===whatever they have.

We didn't even leave here til 11:45 today, so didn't think anyone would still be there and went directly to the laundry. Plus, we forgot bags

We'll get in sometime next week and see what he has, I'd still like to get some even tho it's a little more.

Meal worms! Thank you for thinking of my girls

I bet I can get some at WalMart and make em grow!

Chickens can have oats too can't they?

I know some folks that smoke everything, chicken, turkey, even moose. They made moose bacon a couple years ago, lunchmeat, etc. Very cool.

I just had some moose bacon that Indian Valley made and that is good stuff!

Carmen I bet I know who you got your barley from. He is nice! I just collected barley last week. He was harvesting oats then, but only had a few there.... I filled the barley bins.
