What do you use leg bands for?

WW, I identify each of my birds....I have different ages and lines going now so its a way of telling me who is who...

I have got them from Ebay, thats probably the cheapest I have found but I want more than 100 in a package.

I actually do know all the birds now that they each have their own colors/personality etc but with new babies of the same breed and three different
lines I'll want to know who is who...

Actually I only have a few that I would like to tag - all the same breed, can zip ties be used or are they too sharp once cut?

I have leg bands for the young guys but when they get older I use zip ties...They work just fine, you just have to remember they are there. So
I use the bright yellow ones.
I only have about 20 adult birds right now and about 30 teenagers. So not a whole lot....

For the chicks we just use those plastic zip ties you would use for electrical work. They come in different colors and since they zip on they fit small legs.

I have 12 adult birds and 26 teens. And an incubator with eggs going.

I haven't used ties to keep them straight yet but may have to...

Well I'm not much worried about the roos, they're mostly all going to be dinner within the next few months, but I do have three Norwegian girls and I'd like to keep them straight.. and now I'll have 2 Barred Rocks. Guess until I get the Orloffs it won't be a big deal.
