Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Well for instance, I have last years flock in with this years hatch that should be laying here sometime soon. I have the adults marked just so that I know who the older birds are... Its whatever works for you......When you have identical birds it just makes it easier to see who is who.
Now I have two new lines coming into my flock of BCMs, those will all be marked so that I know who is who as they grow up.....it also helps in identifying who is laying the darker eggs..

OK... the easy way to do it...
insert the end and zip it a little to make a large loop, so it's ready to go, and have some scissors or wire cutters handy.
Grab the victim, er, chick, and cup it in your left hand with its legs caught between your fingers.
Grab the tail of the zip tie loop and slide it down the middle toe, pull right to grab the right toe, then push left to grab the left toe and slide it up the leg. You can then hold onto the tie with your left hand (while still holding the chick) and use your right hand to zip it down. Not too snug, but small enough so the back toe can't slide out. Then cut the tail flush with the edge of the zip tie, and let the little booger go!

Someone came by this morning, and said they caught 18 fish in 4 hours of dipping on the Kenai. Still slow... usually the last weekend is the best. But there are still some Kings in there, too...

I don't think we're going to get to dip this year, unless Jeremy decides to risk the boat... yeah, right, who am I kidding?
