Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Quote:
OK... the easy way to do it...
insert the end and zip it a little to make a large loop, so it's ready to go, and have some scissors or wire cutters handy.
Grab the victim, er, chick, and cup it in your left hand with its legs caught between your fingers.
Grab the tail of the zip tie loop and slide it down the middle toe, pull right to grab the right toe, then push left to grab the left toe and slide it up the leg. You can then hold onto the tie with your left hand (while still holding the chick) and use your right hand to zip it down. Not too snug, but small enough so the back toe can't slide out. Then cut the tail flush with the edge of the zip tie, and let the little booger go!

I think I'll just hand it to Sam while I ziptie it!!

LOL!! Almost all the younger roos are tolerant, some are downright friendly, only the packing peanuts are, well... NUTS!

Good description! But you can see their point of view, they've got issues, ya know!

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :

Someone came by this morning, and said they caught 18 fish in 4 hours of dipping on the Kenai. Still slow... usually the last weekend is the best. But there are still some Kings in there, too...

I don't think we're going to get to dip this year, unless Jeremy decides to risk the boat... yeah, right, who am I kidding?

I'll be there on Saturday!

Dipping I mean. It's a trip with extended family, I doubt I'll be able to stop in to see Tori.

Well, I'm sorry to say that I lost one my BCM cockerels last night.

One of the two chicks I hatched from Donna Gerkhe/SoCalMarans/Bayhorsebonne eggs. He was a sweetie, too. The remaining pullet is looking good. Dark copper on the hackles, and just the right amount, not too much feathering on the feet, and pleasing features. Promising, promising... I just banded her, and took photos in the sunshine (while it lasts!) which I will share later.

Oh no Tori! I am so sorry!......

it's always the ones who are harder to replace!

Well ladies, today is the day. I'll be scarce again for two weeks. Jim comes home tonight and we'll be
running allover the place trying to get this addition done before the snow falls......we HAVE to get some
fishing done too......

I'll peek in from time to time...otherwise call!

When does Joe leave this time? If you guys are headed down to go fishing maybe we'll go too?
We'll be taking our boat down and would have to make it an overnight thing with all the critters...
