2 Things have happened that have THRILLED me!

One. LeyZee-Tori's name is now officially changed back to Tori...
Actually, I am changing it to Tori-Pooh.
Why???
Well....

SHE FINALLY LAID AN EGG.!!!!

I was SO proud of her I had to hold her and squeeze her and kiss the living CRAB-CAKES out of her!

The other thing that happened, is I finally saw Rusty "do" what a Rooster is suposed to "do"!

He "Did The Deed" with one of the Barred Rocks.!!!

(Sorry, no photos. It was a "private" moment for them! LOL I don't want to embarrass them!)



OMG I am SOOOO proud of BOTH of them!

My babies have grown up!

Nope, not today, just yesterday. But as soon as she does, I will call you IMMEDIATELY.
The first I put in the Bator as soon as I found it. Marked it "Tory's BABY" and stuck it in.
Rest assured that if she lays anymore, I will be calling you!

Ash are those eggs from the craigslist ad? They might be fertile from another roo. How long have you had them?
Can't they lay eggs that are fertile for a few weeks? If her previous owner let her run with other roos she could be fertile from them. I would wait if that's the case...you could end up with a funky chicken,lol.

Okay, so I did some searching and read that hens can store the "fertilizer" for up to 28 days and can store it from more than one roo.

I think the other owner (Terrisa) had them in their own pen.....but I could be wrong.

They've been here almost 3 weeks.
The little Stinker didn't lay a single egg until yesterday. And she laid another today.
I didn't crack her egg. I am scared to.
But I guess I can crack the first one she laid, and look at it, then put the second into the Bator in it's place.
What do U all think?

The "surprise" shipment of the Penedesenca eggs went into the bator today, so if I put Tori's new egg in there today, they will all go into Lockdown together.
Can anyone tell me what the egg should look like if it's fertile if it's been in the Bator for about 24+ hrs? (I put it in there yesterday afternoon)

BTW. If I end up with too many Penedesenca chicks (and that is a BIG "IF"), would you guys be interested in taking some of them?
They are a rare breed that lay dark eggs like the Marans. Except they aren't "painted" like the Marans eggs.
When I priced them, Fertile Eggs retail at over $10 each. I will let them go FREE to good homes to YOU guys ONLY.
