Sure wish I had better news, but with yesterdays avalanche in Turnagain pass and the current temps and high winds, my DH feels it is not safe for me to drive down there. We will have to try again when things melt off I guess. My consolation prize is that I will get to see Paula's eggs hatch.

Shoot! That's right! I totally forgot about the avalanche. That's ok... better safe than sorry. And let him know he's justified... our roads down here are sheet ice with the rain/freeze going on. Today's going to be crazy anyway, and next time you come down there will be more fuzzybutts to play with!
it was + 37 yesterday here, so I played clean house and the coop! lol Heat Wave in Feburary
Today looks to be about the same so far + 34 outside.
Incubator temps are finally steady between 99.5 and 100.5 and humidity is is 35% so I will be agging a bit of water later today. I may even try to candle again.
Last candling was done on Day 2 and 3 not much change, as the temps were not quite steady yet. (that is what I get for changing the incubator tops). So this hatch may do just about anything. Hatch date March 7th (I hope).
we currently have 2 light Brahma hens in the kennels in the house. one looked really sad last night, feather unkept and just rough looking. Gave her a bath with Dawn and tucked her in with some ACV and Vitamins. I will band this one before replacing her outside.
The Second one has been inside Previous (blue legband) and has a broken blood feather on her left foot. she also received a bath with Dawn, ACV water, vitamins and food.
Both look much better today, so they may make the coop by night fall.
yesterdays egg collection.....
that is about all the news from RT Poultry n Things for now.
I got my BLRW eggs yesterday, and USPS lived up to their usual sterling example. 2 smashed, 3 more cracked and leaking. These were surrounded by foam and wrapped in bubble wrap. He's sending more bless him, but this is the first time I have had eggs crushed and I STILL can't figure out how they managed it. Most of the eggs were out of their wrap and loose. If I didn't know better I'd suspect they went in there to inspect and left the eggs out of the wrap!!

Are you sure you know better? I don't see how they can unwrap themselves!
If you get a good line of that breed going, I would love to get in on a few in the future.
They are simply beautiful! And we do not want to get into shipping of eggs or chicks from the lower 48. In house or local breeder for us!
