Deb, they turned out beautifully.

We're waiting (not so patiently) on 3 FG crosses (one a FGxCali) to give birth any minute now. Rabbit is so good. If I wasn't already in chickens, I'd go whole-hog into rabbits and would be looking at that show-bunny ya got!!

OMG... I just hatched THE prettiest little chicks today. My Wheaten Ameraucana crawled under a loose spot in the fence and found her way to the BC Marans...

I'll get some photos tomorrow, but they are fuzzy as all get out, with feathered legs, and BC Marans coloring with the deepest richest russet on their heads.

I almost don't want to give them up!!!

Oh man... He was going to just be my buddy...I didn't INTEND to raise bunnies...But they are so beautiful. Now see what you've done!

Just letting you know what you have in his background. If you decide to breed you have different options you can
go with. Lots of people don't like white, but little do they know they can get other colors with some thought put
into their breeding program...

Well, sort of.....They are a very large breed but heavy in bone (18lbs + ). It's usually best to cross them with NZ or Californian. (Meet breeds)
You then end up with a large bunny, usually butcher-able by 8-10 weeks.....

Well we'll just have to see what he says about that

Tho I know right now there's just no place for bunnies here, I've used up all the space for chickies...lol

Now, if there was a way to brace up the trailer ceiling... there's two bedrooms that I could rip the carpet out of......

Ok STOP!!!

I got my call from Sandhill Preservation saying my chicks are on the way!!! She said I did not get the Buckeyes I was hoping for but did get the Delawares and Rosecomb RIRs PLUS: Buff and Black Wyandottes, Buff and Red Chantaclers, Cuckoo Dorkings, Black Australorps, and Black and White Jersey Giants. They are coming Express Mail, so I hope they are here tomorrow, but I bet they don't arrive until Thursday.

I lost two meaties today. I don't know what happened to them. I noticed a floppy/sleepy chick this morning and wonder if that was one of them.

Deb that steel sure is cute!
I've been doing a 3/4 Flemish cross for our meat rabbits. At 12 weeks they average 7 pounds with just under 50 % meat to bone ratio. I brought home a pair of californians today to try and bring the ratio above 50 and still butcher at 12 weeks.

Let me know if anyone wants some rabbit hides. I haven't learned to tan yet so right now they are just going to waste.
