Do they add packing peanuts? Or something to keep them warm? These guys were cold too... IDK It's probably gonna be awhile before I have more room now anyways, but I'll keep those two in mind.
Wolfwoman, I'm sorry about your chicks! Right now they probably won't add packing peanuts because it's HOT down there. I read that some parts of Texas were hitting 104+ degrees. I hope if you order again, you have better luck!
The best we can figure is the ones from Welp came with about 15 extras, it was really hard to count that many. The ones from Mt Healthy didnt come
with any...
Your right Aimee, but they told us our birds were coming from the Iowa center...I wanted to
order my ancona's but they were at a different center and couldnt get them out with our meat
birds......
Wolfwoman, I have to agree with you about Ideal... I ordered a bunch from them that arrived last month. I don't know about your shipment, but they must have seen AK and thought "Arkansas... it's hot there, let's open all the holes," because every last air-hole was popped open. They might as well have shipped the chicks in a wire cage.
The meaties did just fine, but the partridge chanteclers and RC Brown Leghorns all died but 2, either in transit or shortly thereafter. I called to let them know, and those breeds are done for the season so they just refunded me the balance. They were nice about it, but it was just "off". I ordered first from MMH... very happy with the chicks. The last two orders from Welp have had NO casualties. Again, very happy. And the cool thing is, the shipping charges are built into the pricing, so there are no hidden fees. Welp is very nice to work with. Just picked up 5 BOs and 20 Wt Leghorns this morning from them, and all are happy and healthy. They didn't add any additional chicks, but they didn't need to. So don't give up.
