Moving quickly I removed the 6 chicks to a small box, grabbed all the empty shells, moved the yellow chicks to the corner, misted the incubator and closed the top.
Humidity back to 80% in just under a minute, temp still raising.

Miss Deb, Make sure there is enough space behind the fan so it has air to move.

Well our fan is a little strange, we took it out of a newer/old computer that we had laying around. It blows down into what my husband called a heat sink? A metal thing that has little ridges that defuses the air flow. So we wont be able to really mount it
so we'll make it its own little wire shelf that it can sit on along with the thermometer. We have it stabilized at 93 on the left of the cooler, 95 on the right and the water wiggler is 95 in the middle of the cooler....

Sorry haven't been on here for a few days. Aimee love your brooder, I saved the pictures to show Alan an idea of what he gets to build me for later...LOL

Sad news Egg #4 pipped through the yolk, (it was oozing through the pip) so I had to help it........
I don't know if it will make it or not, I removed the part that was stuck in it's beak, and wrapped in a warm wet papertowel and placed it back into the incubator on it's side with the beak pointed up.
we now have 8 in the brooder.
15 eggs to go.....

Lovely chick pics!

Deb it sounds like your hatcher may be up and running properly now? Has the chick had this problem from the start? How old is she?
I've got one with 2 bent toes. He seems to get around sharp enough but something isn't right there either

Pandora, I hope the partially hatched chick is doing okay? Any more pips?

Donna,

He/she seems to be getting a bit better. It'll stand upright for a few seconds now, so we'll see! They were hatched the 25th.

My new incubator is here....

Day 23-

5 black & 3 yellow in the brooder
2 black in the incubator, 2 large pips,
1 Black died (piped through yolk)
11 eggs to go.

Temp 100, Humidity 70%.
I have to go to work so will check again when I get home.

DH made up a song for the chickies......to sing while I am gone.....
"broke 16 eggs what do I get another day older and deeper in debt," cracked 16 eggs ate the corn and Nana don't care!....."
all because I said I would worry about them while we are gone to work. I threatened to stay home if he continued....lol
