I have another few (7) eggs in the turner now, awaiting enough for a hatch. I figure the turner is the best place to store them until I start the incubator, as it turns them for me and I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn them. Plus I can monitor the humidity of the incubator, and there for control the area they are in!

I am thinking about adding yesterday's gathering of 15 to it and just letting it run.....then I will add to the laying flock, as well as the breeders.

Oh my... 4H group came to see the chicks/bunnies... I'm wore out! Fun bunch, but I'm not used to that much energy anymore! LOL! I took them in small groups to the incubator room, showed them the new babies, even candled a couple of eggs so they could see the chicks moving inside...

Folks, you have really been busy hatching!! I'm in Texas visiting my folksand getting my chicken fix until my birds arrive in May. My moms flock are some that I hatched for her last year. Our rooster has a problem with his comb. If you have a chance to wander over to the Emergencies forum I would appreciate it if you could look at the pictures and weigh in on the discussion. It is entitled "What is wrong with Goliath's comb".

Setting 1 more batch probably in the morning. I just moved the first 2 hatches to a new kennel...
they are not sure what to make of each other yet.

I tried to put the faverolle in with the week olds (she is 3 weeks) but they mobbed her and she is so mild mannered she had no clue how to deal with them and she's alone now also. They are looking really good Pandora!

I agree with you, even if he was exposed to cold, the tips would go first. Other than that I haven't a clue, I don't know enough about possible ailments or anything like that. I wouldn't say fighting or pecking is likely however, since it is on both sides in the same place.
He's a handsome dude BB.

Boy, Carmen, I don't know... it looks like an infection of some sort, considering it shows up on both sides of the comb. If he were mine (and oh, boy, is he purty!) I would take another photograph in a week to see if it's changing. If there's no change, or it's getting bigger, I would administer a broad spectrum antibiotic and see how it reacts. If it looks like it's getting smaller, then I would just let it run its course. I'd have to do a little more research, I think... I'm not familiar with pox, but the few photos I've seen don't look like that.

Some of the next generation Ameraucanas...
