I have 4 lavender ameraucanas out of the egg today. That is out of 7 that made it to lockdown. Its day 22 so maybe there are more but that's better than I had expected.

Im right there with you Donna! I have 4 Coppers and 4 Dellies.....more are pipped. It's been a long day waiting and watching!

I was waiting on one particular chick to hatch and trying to figure out how to mark it, it's out of my best BCM hen and Norman.....I'm sure there are others in here
that are theirs but this is the only one I KNOW is hers...It just popped out, at least I know they arent the ones throwing the Wheatens....so far none this time around but I have many more
to go.


Any idea's on how to identify them? I don't have leg bands yet but it might be a smart investment.

I bought some of these leg bands. They are easy to put on and off and the chicks didn't bother with them. They shipped them to me in a couple days. In the meantime use some dye or Wound Kote.

These are the bands I use on the adults. I use the 5/8 inch size for my Buff Orps. I buy any color but red and orange. The rubber band ones I took off the chicks when they were about 3 weeks old. I think I might try the size 6 and see how long they will last. I would like to find something that I don't have to keep replacing.
