PaulaJoAnne, I would love to hear about your Birch Syrup, and anything else you do to be self sufficient.

Do you have a cow or goats? I see your sig line says raw milk. I am the proud owner of two 8 day old doelings! I know it will be a while before I can get milk, but I can't wait! I see cheese, yogurt, soap, and all sorts of goodies in the future...

Donna, you said you had a friend with goats, could you ask if they have theirs disbudded, or if they know someone that does it? I would appreciate it.

It will keep me busy for quite a while... I used to read for an hour or more before bed, but now I read a page and I'm out. Though DG's books are soooo hard to put down. I'm excited...

I will ask Lisa about that for you tomorrow Aimee. She would know.
I was going to set up my bee hive this weekend since the bees are coming the 21st......The hive is ready but my spot is under 10" of snow.

Donna, I have one hive that I believe is complete, and one that isn't, but I think all the parts are here for it. Brand new. My dad was building them when he passed away. I would LOVE to keep bees, but I'm not sure what is left to do to the hives.
Thanks for asking about the goats!

If you're not already a member there is an Alaska goat owners group on Yahoo. A lot of really friendly people and a great resource for all things goat. Mine were disbudded when I got them but I think Katrina mentioned once about disbudding service.

Good luck
