Albino budgie. Male or female?

Just wondering if you guys can help me out on the sex of this albino budgie?

This is the cere of a female budgie that has been in breeding condition, and is coming out of it. The brown is flaking away to reveal her normal, non-breeding condition color.

She looks to be a nice sized bird!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the rule with INO (albino for white base and lutino for yellow base) budgies different than that of the regular colors? I thought it was opposite with sexing by cere once mature?

I also have Lutinos. And albinos. I breed them and that is always the case with the INO genotype in my personal experience.

What do you mean by this?

It’s not as though a female ino will get a dark blue male-looking cere.

The problem with sexing mature inos, is that the male’s cere will either be a pinkish-lavender color like a recessive pied (easy to sex) or it can be a tan or flesh color. In those cases it can look an awful lot like a female cere. In that case, you have to watch over time to see if it goes through the breeding condition cycle of turning dark brown, thickening, and then eventually sloughing off.
