So sorry to hear this...... there is another thread on here with the SAME issue. Sad times when you have to lock up your chickens.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope your Husband is better soon. Can't believe people sometimes. Hope whoever did the deed is caught or at least gets what is coming to them.

I thank you all for your outpouring of concern, and prayers for my husband.
Yes---I foolishly allowed the occasional buyer to come to my home, because it was at times I couldn't leave my husband.
The dogs will be gone today.
I have an idea who the theif might be, but how can I accuse someone without proof?---I can't
We had planned on having a security gate installed at the end of the driveway, but my husband hasn't stayed well enough, long enough, to see the project through.
Game cameras are an excellent idea....I'm sure I can figure out how to install them.

Story~~you're right.....and I'm a great believer in karma

The bird does have identifying marks, but I didn't want to post them

This is insane!!!! What the heck is wrong with people!

Can you see the coops/barn from your house? We have motion lights up along with several hidden game cameras, plus were lucky enough to be able to see the birds from the house, and you really can't see the coops from the road.

Also, thoughts & prayers for your you and your husband.

So sorry for your loss. I will keep an eye out for your rooster. Something is telling me he wont be easy to sell without someone on BYC hearing about it! Good luck finding him and hope your husband comes home soon.

If the person that stole him is smart, they will bring him back in a large ventilated box and put him by the gate....and no one will be the wiser. Fortunately, the sheriff's office is taking this theft seriously. Because of his value, plus the value of the chicks that he produces, this can be escalated to a felony.

The silkie world is smaller than folks may think....just sayin'.....

Sandy!!!

I am SO sorry on so many fronts!! I'm so sorry about your husband, poor chickens, your dogs and the jerk (many other words I'd like to say here) who would steal your gorgeous silkie!! ARG!

I'm with Story, karma is going to bite this guy big time, but in the meantime, man I hope the police find the *#$&#!! I'll keep my eyes peeled around here, Craigslist, the like and will let you know if I see anything suspicious. Is there any other way I can help you??
