Just a note also - Mystery (AKA Apple) snails can't reproduce by themselves. They need a snail of the opposite sex with which to mate and lay eggs. Even if you have two of them of different sexes, they lay their egg clutches above the water, so you can always just remove it before the babies hatch. Other snails can breed by themselves and they lay their eggs at the bottom of the tank where they are almost invisible to the eye!

Snails. I had a terrible time with algae. I also had a hard time getting pleco's to live. I have yet to figure that out. But now I have the mystery snails and my tank is so clean. It also helps to put a live plant in your tank. Not only will they clean all of the algae off, but they will keep the dead parts of the plant cleaned up. Which overall makes the tank look better.. I really like my mystery snails.
