EDIT: i have so many more, PM me if you want your eyes to hurt. :)
Wow! I love them, especially the leaf hoppers and monarchs! I find it so interesting to watch grasshoppers like that slowly grow, shed, and eventually get their wings!

I have idea how to tell locusts and grasshoppers apart. They're basically the same right? Anyone know how?

Thank you!

That's still awesome even if you've skipped some days! I would love to see some of your drawings, too! I basically just draw birds from pics, too. I always take too long to draw them while they're still in front of me... so I take quick pictures of them in the moment and try drawing them later. I suppose that isn't ideal for a journal, but because I'm drawing them from pics of individual birds that I saw that they are relevant and it helps capture details I otherwise would have missed. So that's what I'm doing for now! I need to get better at being able to capture enough angles and patterns in a shorter amount of time that I'll be satisfied.
There is this nature journaling guy named John Muir Laws (or something like that) who I watch sometimes. You can Google him and his website pops up. He says to just go for it and not worry about quality. Maybe I'll give it a shot today if it doesn't rain to much!

I'll take some pictures of my drawings soon!

I usually have weeds. Mostly mustard weed, goatheads and foxtail grass. This year the chickens ate all the little sprouts and we've been weed free so far! :wee I'm sometimes tempted to keep some of the weeds, especially the mustard weed because it's edible. Or maybe I'm just trying to give myself excuses to not dig them all up. :p
My chickens don't eat the weed we call "cotton top" (I'm not sure if that is actually what it is) unless I pull it up for them. Who made them so picky?

I wish I could see some monarchs over here. I get lots of mourning cloaks, though! Last year basically ALL the caterpillars made their chrysalises on our front porch. It was fun to see!

So fun! We have a couple Monarchs here and I have seen 1 Mourning cloak before! But mostly we are swallowtails and cabbage whites!

Wow. I've heard of him, :p. I was in the two most recent of his free classes. That's what inspired me to start! I know that the pictures don't need to look good, but I've been drawing birds before I was interested in journaling about them. So I think it'll take some time for my mindset to change.

Yay! I can't wait!

Haha, I know! I've set up a little fence outside where they're usually allowed so they can eat the more established fox tails(they don't have any seed development yet), but the just go rummaging for little insects instead. Well, some will snack on thr weeds a little bit!
