Aren’t sex links able to be sexed at hatch by their looks/color? Or am I mistaken... or if they are perhaps the hatcheries still stick a few roosters in the mix just to get rid of themWith that posture I would say you are right to be concerned. Sorry.
I have days that I just get so confused I have to look at my phone or askGood morning Grammy and everyone. And Grammy thank you for the reminder I was literally just losing the plot on what day it was. You were there to rescue me.
Yes sex links are differentiated by their markings at birth. If this is a sex link it is almost impossible for it to be a boy. I was evaluating on 3 pictures. Not a large set of data. Does she always stand like that? I know Aurora does it a lot.Aren’t sex links able to be sexed at hatch by their looks/color? Yes, always like that... and definitely bigger than the othersYes sex links are differentiated by their markings at birth. If this is a sex link it is almost impossible for it to be a boy. The chick could be older and hence bigger. Let's put that aside.Yes, always like that... and definitely bigger than the others![]()
Okay... that makes sense...The chick could be older and hence bigger. Let's put that aside.
I will say that I was so concerned with Aurora's appearance and stance that I sent pictures to the breeder to make certain she was a hen. Clearly she is but boy did she look like Jabber for a while. So stance is not an automatic. It just gives me pause because she looks a lot like Ned.
I will also say this and it will not calm your fears. Just because they are auto-sexing and marked differently it does not mean someone at the breeders did not accidentally grab a boy when shipping the chicks. In a way it might make sense because the chick was there a alone. People who know who came to buy might not have chosen that chick because they knew it was marked like a boy.
Please post a picture of the chick from the top from back when you got it and maybe we can suss this out.
