All My Chickens..... a coop opera!

I might rethink keeping one... I saw one of them just a bit ago attack the crap out of another Wyandotte! I mean, I never saw chicks act this way at this age! I swear it was like she was a grown chicken!! She was roosting and one came to sit next to her😡 how dare she! Ugh!
I have one that I picked and she seems sweet enough... with a name like Cookie she has to be right?!
I'm not certain about names controlling personality but you are watching them enough to judge them. Go with your gut.

Those first hens are very special! I love the memory of bringing your first babies home!

We have two left, of the ones we bought, they are Ameraucanas, and are at least 7!
We also have one of the last remaining SLW hens from the original owners, we have lived here for 7 years, and she wasn't exactly young when we moved in, so she is at least 10 or 11!
10 or 11 is amazing! I hope I am so lucky. 👍

I am really envious of those of you who can rehome - I don't know how I would do that here. I might find someone who was willing to butcher and stock their freezer, but even that I am not sure I could find someone (let alone have the emotional fortitude to do so). How do you find folk willing to take your chickens you want to rehome?
I had a special home to send mine to that one time. Thanks @CrazyChookChookLady

I believe that she has used a local Facebook group to rehome extra roosters. Maybe you could try that.

I found them!:wee
They are so cute! Do you still have them?
Lil' red looks like my Holly!

Oooohhhh, yay for Bootsie!
And no I do not have them... I rehomed them to a friend who could give them a rooster and let them hatch... they were constantly broody!!
Here they are with their adopted mother Nilky.. they all went together to my friend. Lil Red, Petunia, Cutie, and Nilky.... I loved them soooooo much! I was heart broken when I gave them away.. but I am happy for them now💕

It feels good when you know they have a good home and are happy. I feel that way about Ned and Lucky.
