Sooooo, I did a thing I swore I would never
I gave her a bakers dozen! She is SweetPea my partridge Cochin bantam… I gave her mostly bantam eggs and I’m not sure how many are even fertile so that’s why I gave her so many! Two I think are from my salmon Favrolles and their eggs are pretty small.. my rooster is a bantam as well so hoping for small chickens.

So I noticed lice on my gals
Never had a problem with bugs before! I also had lots of birds inside the coop/run… stealing food and leaving lice behind I presume Also have never had a problem with birds in all of 7 years! Very frustrating!!
I hung this reflective ribbon/tape… seems to be working wonderfully! And the wind is definitely helping! We barely ever have a breeze here so this is nice! I don’t even see any in and around my yard at all and before I put this up they were everywhere! I also checked the bushes nearby and disposed of two nests! Let’s hope in continues to work

These are the things I am trying to get rid of the lice. Two of the gals that I checked first seemed to have the most so I immediately dunked them in a bucket of warm water and Dawn dish soap… that got rid of the lice but they both had SO many eggs attached to the feathers I got some of the feathers off but I really need help holding them!
Anyway, I have used Adam’s in the past and I spray the roost and nest boxes… Adam’s will kill every and any bug for months! I sprinkled the Lyme in the coop and all around the run…. And I sprayed their feet with the Premo… I need to do it every three days. I haven’t tried the Pen and Poultry yet… that is Permetherin so I will try that if nothing else works…

Sooooo, today is day 8 so I candled the eggs…
First of all let me say that I went on YouTube to see what they should look like and mine do not look as they should or from what I saw they should look like. And if I would’ve judged by all the ones I saw I probably would’ve tossed viable eggs! None of mine have the visible veins throughout… there’s just a big dark blob inside.. but larger than a yolk and what made me suspicious was how clear the air pocket is… and on some I could clearly see the eye and it was moving around …… so, on the ones that look very much the same but couldn’t clearly see an eye I kept anyway… and there are three that I am probably 90% sure that aren’t viable cuz they look quite different. But I am keeping those for a few more days just to be certain! So from what I can tell it looks like 10 may be good to go But I will check again in a few more days so I can remove any duds.
